Ukrainian Ministry wants to teach Crimeans how to bypass Russian internet bans
The Minister for Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, Vadym Chernysh, feels that it is necessary to start teaching Crimeans how to use technology to evade Russian internet bans. He stated this in an interview with Krym.Realii.
This ministry was established on the 20th of April based on the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
According to Chernysh, the ministry will create technology to allow communication with Crimeans. They will then teach the citizens how to protect themselves against the Russian special services.
“We understand that we need to teach Crimeans how to use VPN services. This joint project needs to be implemented with the Ministry of Information Policy. We know how the Russian secret services prevent Crimeans from communicating with Ukraine. We now have to teach people how to bypass the prohibitions that the Russian authorities have created,” Chernysh explained.
According to him, the return of Ukrainian control of the Crimea directly depends on the communication between the population of the peninsula and the mainland.
“Crossing the administrative border with Crimea is very important for maintaining communication between Crimea and Ukraine. That is why we need to create contacts and maintain links with mainland Ukraine. This is so that Crimeans can retain the ability to come to the mainland and see not the mythical image shown to them by Russian propagandist channels, but the real life in Ukraine,” Chernysh concluded.
