Ukraine to receive 50 million euros from the European Commission to combat corruption

The Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, told reporters that the European Commission intends to allocate 50 million euros to support Ukraine’s fight against corruption, Rosbalt reported.

"In the next few days the Commission will adopt a program to support anti-corruption initiatives in Ukraine ... As far as I remember, the size is about 50 million [euros]," Hahn said at a press conference in Kiev.

The Commissioner explained that the program will provide assistance to Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies, the Verkhovna Rada, civil society organizations, and the media in order to help fight against corruption.

Kiev expects to receive a total of $12 billion in financial aid from all sources this year, including $4 billion from the International Monetary Fund.
