Ukraine proposes creating transport corridor from the Baltic to the Caspian Sea
Ukraine has initiated the creation of a Baltic Sea-Black Sea-Caspian Sea transport corridor, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services, Gennady Zubko, at the 11th meeting of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation in Baku.
"Ukraine has handed a draft agreement on the establishment of the international Baltic Sea-Black Sea-Caspian Sea transport corridor to Azerbaijan," Zubko said.
"This large transport corridor, which synchronizes multiple routes, will be of great importance in strengthening economic and trade relations. Also, the creation of a single governing body within the framework of the corridor is provided for the formation of an integrated freight transport development strategy in the region," the Deputy Prime Minister added.
He also informed that transport cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan on the Silk Road route continues.
The message also says that "the results of a test run of a container train on the Ukraine-Georgia-Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan-China route has proved the technological capability of these shipments."
