Ukraine connects all international checkpoints to Interpol base
Ukraine connected all of its international checkpoints to the Interpol system. This was reported by Deputy Interior Minister Vadim Troyan during a briefing at the Boryspil airport on Thursday.
"Ukraine connected to the Interpol database in August 2015. For a year and a half we managed to connect all the international checkpoints to the system. During that time the State Border Guard Service checked almost 3,500 operations. The most common crimes are fraud, participation in terrorist groups and illegal drug trafficking," quotes the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Thanks to the connection to the Interpol system, it was possible to identify 26 persons, find 147 stolen cars and recover more than 700 lost and stolen passports.
"Despite the war and aggression from the Russian Federation, serious transformations and reforms are taking place in Ukraine. Our priorities are in accordance with needs of modern society: cybersecurity and the fight against terrorism and against organized crime." The world sees us as partners in this joint work. The threat from the East prompts us to integrate into the international security system and strengthen border protection," Troyan said.
