SBU: two Russian border guards who crossed into Ukraine from Crimea were charged with violating territorial integrity of Ukraine

The Russian border guards who were detained in the Kherson Oblast near the administrative border with the Crimea were charged with violating the territorial integrity of Ukraine, reported the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

“The investigators of the SBU Directorate in the Kherson Oblast reported suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the territorial supremacy and inviolability of Ukraine) against Russian border guards who performed tasks in the interests of the Russian Federation to the detriment of Ukraine,” the message says.

The Department notes that two Russian citizens were detained on the territory of the Kherson Oblast on June 30. On Tuesday, the Court of Appeal of Kherson Oblast elected a preventive measure for them in the form of detention. The investigation continues, the Department said.

On June 30, the Kalanchak District Court of Kherson Oblast arrested two border guards of the FSB of Russia for two days, detained in Kherson Oblast in the early hours of June 30 for the ‘violation of the procedure for leaving the temporarily occupied territory’ according to Article 204.2 of the Administrative Code of Ukraine. The court also ordered them to pay a fine of UAH 320 or about USD 12.

On that same day, Viktor Nazarenko, the Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine announced the detention of two military servicemen of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia in Kherson Oblast.

Subsequently, the State Border Guard Service stated that the employees of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia sent an appeal requesting information on the two Russian detainees.
