Teenaged girl snipers are in the ranks of pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine
At a recent meeting with Igor Plotnitsky, the leader of the self-proclaimed LPR, Alexandra Soroka reported about the direct involvement of a fifteen-year-old girl sniper in the fighting against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"A fifteen-year-old girl sniper was killed. When she was still alive, she decided to take her father's name. Her mother left for Ukraine," Soroka said during the meeting.
On September 10, 2016, the analytical department of Prava Sprava public initiative reported that Russian curators set up a training camp on the territory of the former Luhansk Higher Military Aviation School of Navigators, where local separatists were being trained to participate in subversive activity in Ukraine.
The so-called sniper unit went through a separate training course, which includes twenty "students." According to the local sources of Prava Sprava public initiative, some of the sniper unit’s “students” were women.
After this information was disclosed, the command of the "People's Militia" of the self-proclaimed LPR confirmed the presence of twelve female scouts in the ranks of "Separate Guards Reconnaissance Battalion".
On February 23, 2017, Defender of the Fatherland Day, twelve female members of the Separate Guards Reconnaissance Battalion of People's Militia of LPR were presented with various forms of awards "for the diligence shown in the performance of military duty, personal discipline, loyalty to military tradition and achieved positive results in the service.”
