Ukrainian intelligence arrested Russian agent in Dnipro

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) stopped an attempt by the Russian Special Services to destabilize the situation in the city of Dnipro. As reported by the press service of the Security Service, a local resident, who, according to the SSU, was instructed by the Russians to lead an active propaganda campaign promoting the "Russian world", has been detained.

"The 47-year-old administrator of a radical online community has been sharing and reposting separatist materials prepared by the Russian Special Services, indicating a worsening in the socio-political situation in the region, with the intention of provoking mass protests in Ukraine. He also promoted the idea of the Dnipro region joining the Russian Federation," the SSU reported.

In addition, the perpetrator was informing his supervisors about the sentiments among the population and its readiness to protest against the increase in tariffs for utilities.

"The Security Service conducted a search and confiscated telecommunications equipment that contained evidence of the illegal activity. Criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 110, Part 2, (Infringement of the Territorial Integrity and Inviolability of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions are continuing," the SSU reported.
