Saakashvili may resign as Governor of Odessa

Mikhail Saakashvili may be dismissed from his post as the Governor of Ukraine's Odessa Oblast (region) at the beginning of March, as reported by hromadske.tv.  The possibility of his resignation was also made by the Acting Deputy, Alexander Borovik.

“We are seriously concerned by the political crisis gaining momentum in the country.  We express our criticisms and ask difficult questions, even to the Prime Minister and to the President.  This could cause a severe reaction on their part,” Borovik reported.

“Is the dismissal of Saakashvili possible?  After the oligarchic coup, we can expect anything," Borovik concluded.

Last Tuesday, during the Ukrainian government’s reports to Parliament, the MPs recognized the unsatisfactory work of the Cabinet of the Ministers.  However, they were unable to dismiss the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk as there were not enough votes to do so.  194 deputies that voted in favor, short of the 226 needed.

Saakashvili called the failure to vote on the resignation of the Ukrainian government an "oligarchic coup".  “Yesterday, something happened that always happens when the revolution does not happen, the old regime is restored.  I believe that yesterday in the country, there was an oligarchic coup", he posted on his Facebook page.
