Russian President promises not to allow 'color revolutions' in the country

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that authorities will not allow "color revolutions" in the country. He made this statement in an interview with TV channel "Mir 24" published on Wednesday.

"We know various theories that are being implemented in various parts of the world and lead to serious instability in these regions. Of course we must not allow anything of this sort and we will by all means take appropriate actions in Russia and support our partners in the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization), "the Russian leader said.

A day earlier, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that a counteraction to this threat is being discussed at joint exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). According to him, the interaction of countries helps to keep an eye on common regional problems: drug trafficking, terrorism and “external interference into our states under color revolution scenarios.”

In a September 2015 interview with American journalist Charlie Rose, Putin pointed to Washington's “involvement in overthrowing the Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych”. He also called this approach to the solution of disputed domestic political issues "absolutely unacceptable."
