Russian MoD: New Russian division along Ukrainian border will be fully formed in December
The new 150th Motorized Rifle Division in the Rostov region will be fully formed by December 2016. In addition, it will begin receiving arms and military equipment from October. This was reported by TASS, citing a source in the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to the source, commanders of the division's units and subunits have already been appointed and the unit is now being staffed with contract soldiers.
“The construction of infrastructure facilities in the deployment areas is in its final stage. The military unit will begin receiving modern weapons and equipment as soon as October,” the source said.
He added that there is “no doubt that the division will be fully formed by the 1st of December”.
The source added that the division will be armed with T-72B3 modernized tanks, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled guns, as well as the Pantsir-S surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon complexes.
The division will include three motorized rifle regiments, tank and anti-aircraft missile regiments and the self-propelled artillery regiment. The number of troops in the division will amount to approximately 10,000 soldiers.
