Russian authorities to organize rallies against terrorism across the country

The presidential administration of the Russian Federation has recommended that regions organize rallies against terrorism on April 8. The demonstrations are supposed to involve all parliamentary parties and be held in major cities throughout the country, "especially those where protest actions took place" on March 26.

This is reported by Kommersant newspaper, referring to a source close to the administration of the Russian president.

"The governors are already being called and given the task of rounding up all the people there," the source said. The published report was confirmed in “United Russia”.

Sources in several regional administrations have confirmed that they are already organizing rallies that "must be held across the country".

"Only, we do not have to call it ‘Day of Wrath’; it is a day of grief. The authorities are often blamed for not sharing the grief of the people; one of the goals is to prove that this is not the case. We have not launched any directives for numbers or slogans, but it is certain that the number of people should not be less than usual," the source said.

In another region, it was noted that the rally would be organized in a "standard" way: United Russia and the authorities will mobilize state employees. In one of the regions it was said that the bar was set at 4-4.5 thousand participants.

Fair Russia party has said that "commands have still not been received," and the CPRF (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) has so far announced a rally in Moscow on April 8 against social inequality and other problems.

"We have a known theme, but life is moving forward. And we will talk about terrorism and its roots," stated the Central Committee of the CPRF.

On March 26 actions against corruption took place across Russia, prompted by the investigation by the FBK (The Anti-Corruption Foundation) of assets related to the head of the Russian government, Dmitry Medvedev. In most cases, the authorities did not permit these actions, and many participants were detained.

On April 3 there was a terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro system that killed 14 people and wounded about 50 people.
