Russia may refuse to participate in next year's Eurovision contest in Ukraine
Russia may refuse to participate in the next Eurovision contest which will he be held in Ukraine next year.
Franz Klintsevitch, First Deputy Head of the United Russia faction of the Russian Parliament, made these remarks while speaking to Russian journalists.
"It wasn't Ukrainian singer Jamala with her 1944 song who won the Eurovision-2016 contest but rather politics took the upper hand over art. And this is the first time it happened so obviously. Next year Eurovision will be held in Kiev and the organizers will jump out of their skin to politicize it and transform into 'a democratic show a la Ukraine'," Klintsevitch said.
Ukrainian singer Jamala won the Eurovision-2016 contest with her song 1944. Russian contestant Sergey Lazarev took third place.
The Mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, said that the capital of Ukraine will be prepared to hold next year's Eurovision.
