Russia has not provided NATO with evidence to support its accusations against Ukraine
Russia has not provided any evidence of its allegations of Ukrainian sabotage in the Crimea. This was reported to Deutsche Welle on the 11th of August by an official NATO representative in response to comments made by the Federal Security Service.
“We are closely, and with concern, following the increasing tension between Russia and Ukraine,” the report says. “We are satisfied with the strong condemnation of terrorism by Ukraine in all its manifestations and forms. We note that Ukraine has rejected all of Russia’s accusations and has made it clear that Kiev is fully committed to the idea of restoring territorial integrity, only with the assistance of political and diplomatic means. We also note that Russia has not provided any tangible evidence of their accusations against Ukraine,” the report continued.
NATO also said that Russia’s military activities in the Crimea has not contributed to the easing of tensions. They have called on Moscow to work on de-escalation. “We are deeply concerned about the recent outbreaks of violence in the east of Ukraine, and the increasing number of ceasefire violations along the contact line by Russia-supported militants,” the report added.
The Alliance has called on all parties of the Ukrainian conflict to return to the negotiating table and work towards a peaceful settlement by diplomatic means. According to the document sent to DW, a key factor in achieving this is the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
NATO also again confirmed that the Alliance members are united in their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and has urged Russia to cancel the illegitimate and illegal annexation of the Crimea.
