Russia deploys electronic intelligence system along border with Ukraine

The Russian Federation has deployed intelligence systems in conjunction with the beginning of the provocations in the Crimea

Air monitoring along the Ukrainian border confirmed the deployment of electronic intelligence systems in the Russian Federation in close proximity to the Russian-Ukrainian border.

According to the press service of the Ukrainian State Border Service, Russian intelligence systems have been deployed opposite the border units in the Kharkiv region at distance of 2.5 km from the border line. Border guards have recorded three such systems.

"According to available information, mobile electronic intelligence systems, combined with geolocation and radio-technical combat systems emerged when Russia started aggressive actions in the Crimea in the beginning of August," the statement notes.

On 10 August, the Security Service of Russia accused the Main Intelligence Department of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry of sending saboteurs to the occupied Crimea and of "heavy shelling" resulting in the death of one Russian serviceman.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that two Russian servicemen were killed in the Crimea. "We certainly will not ignore such things," he said.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied Russia’s accusations. At the same time, the news portal Business Insider wrote that the deployment of Russian troops along the Ukrainian border demonstrates the dramatic escalation of violence which will have serious consequences for Ukraine. Russia deployed additional combat troops and systems in northern and eastern Ukraine and near the southern border as well.
