Putin: Sanctions hinder the fight against terrorism
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at a meeting with representatives from both chambers of the Russian parliament that “the economic and political constraints divide the countries and do not allow them to join forces in the fight against terrorism”, RIA Novosti reported.
"All restrictions in the economic sphere, in the political sphere - they divide the states and do not allow them to join forces in the fight against the common evil — terrorism. We are taking hits because of this — both we and them," Putin said.
In addition, Putin expressed his hope that following the recent events in Germany (the terrorist attack in Berlin), Europe will cooperate more closely with Russia in the fight against terrorism.
"Unfortunately, this does not only depend on us. I hope that the recent tragic events, will encourage our partners to work with us more closely on tackling terrorism," he said.
Earlier, it was reported that the so-called Islamic State took responsibility for the attack in Berlin, on Monday, December 19th.
