Prices in Crimea continue to rise
Prices for goods and services continue to grow in the Crimea. However, they are still significantly lower compared to the previous two years, as stated by the Natalia Grigor while speaking on Sputnik v Krymu radio. Grigor is the Deputy Head of the administrative unit of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Crimea.
“Of course, the price levels are not like those in 2014-2015, but they continue to grow. Since the beginning of the year we have gotten 0.8% growth. In July we saw some increase in tariffs on public utilities. The lowest ones were water supply and wastewater disposal at 6-7%. The highest ones were electricity supply services where over 20% growth occurred. In comparison with December 2015 we had a growth of 100.8% in July,” she said.
Grigor went on to explain that “It’s a seasonal factor; we see it constantly. If we compare it to the last seven months of the previous year, we had a growth of almost 21%. During this month, according to our observations—we observe prices weekly—the average level of prices has decreased. That’s why we believe that maybe in August this year we will even see a level of deflation.”
She noted that since the beginning of the year, the price increase in industrial production and agriculture has been 5-6% while the increase in the electricity distribution sector was 6.7%.
