Poll suggests most Ukrainians think Poroshenko should resign over off shore scandal

Most Ukrainians believe that President Petro Poroshenko should resign over the offshore scandal, according to the results of a poll conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

According to the institute’s website, respondents were asked the following: The media is discussing the fact that the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, owns companies registered abroad in the so-called 'offshore zones'. In your opinion, should he resign because of this? The results show that 48.6% of respondents thought that he “definitely should”, 17.5% thought that he “probably should”, 9.3% thought that he “probably should not”, 6.3% thought that he “definitely should not” while 18.3% of the respondents were undecided.

The poll was conducted at the request of a client and occurred from the 13th to the 18th of May. It discussed the public opinion of the recent actions of the President, the appointment of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine, the offshore scandal as well as the current leadership of the country. A total of 2,039 respondents from 110 settlements were polled. Residents of the Crimea did not participate, and in Luhansk and Donetsk, the survey was conducted only on the territory controlled by Ukrainian authorities.
