Due to shortage of funds, Ukraine's state-owned defense company will lay off workers
The state concern Ukroboronprom does not have sufficient funds, and its leadership is forced to resort to such an unpopular measure as unpaid leave for the employees of defense enterprises.
Thus, due to the lack of funding, the employees of Lviv Armor Vehicle Factory will be put on unpaid leave, and the Ukrainian military in eastern Ukraine will not receive modern tanks Oplot, Dozor-B, armored vehicles and other advanced military equipment, the press service of the concern said.
"Today, the capabilities of Ukroboronprom is several times bigger than the capacity of Ukraine’s state budget. Thus, we have fulfilled the state defense order 100%, gave the army everything it ordered. But let's be honest: our state order is several times smaller than the amount of funds assumed by the program of development of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine," the statement read.
The company noted that Ukrainian government is able to provide only the minimum that is required by the defense industry. At the same time, the leadership of Ukroboronprom promised to do everything possible to reduce the negative effects of the budget shortage and maintain the competitiveness of the Ukrainian defense industry.
Previously, the Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Defense, Serhiy Pashinsky, spoke to the Ukrainain media about the difficulties in the military industry of Ukraine.
According to him, the armored vehicle Dozor and the mortar Molot are the only products that the company is capable of producing at the moment.
