NATO to help Ukraine reduce its dependence on Russian Defense Industry
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the NATO Agency for Support and Logistics signed an agreement in Brussels establishing a process for the purchase and sale of military logistic equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to the mission of Ukraine to NATO.
"The signing of this document will allow for the deepening of cooperation with NATO with the aim of diversifying the sources of logistic support for the Armed Forces and to decrease our country’s dependence on the Russian Defense Industry,” stated the mission’s message in social media.
According to the Defense Ministry’s website, the agreement was signed by the acting head of the Ukrainian Mission to NATO, Yehor Bozhok, and the Acting General Manager, T. Hoffman, from NATO. The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Stepan Poltorak.
Earlier during the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) meeting, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, announced a comprehensive reform of the defense and security aimed at achieving NATO membership. The NSDC approved training the army to join NATO.
