NATO Secretary General promised further support and practical assistance to Ukraine
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the July meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission will endeavor to show a “very strong expression of political support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”.
The meeting will also be a platform to discuss how to provide practical support to Ukraine. This was stated by Stoltenberg at a press conference at the NATO headquarters, after a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of member states.
The NATO-Ukraine Commission will, for the second time, be part of the NATO summit that will be held in Warsaw on the 8th and 9th of July.
“NATO and its individual member states currently provide strong political support to Ukraine. We also provide practical support through our trust funds, practical cooperation, the development of institutions and training. We will continue to do so. I believe that the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission will be an important platform for the expression of political support and for the development of our practical support for Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said.
While in Brussels, the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, spoke about their support of Ukraine in its opposition to Russian aggression. According to him, the US and NATO will cease all business relations with Russia for as long as Moscow does not fulfill the Minsk Agreements. “This is critically important. We do not recognize the annexation and occupation of Crimea”.
