Naftogaz to Discuss Gas Transit Tariffs with Gazprom
The delegation Naftogaz of Ukraine will visit Moscow in the near future to discuss new tariffs for the transit of gas through Ukraine. These discussions will be held with the Chairman of Gazprom, Alexander Medvedev. This was reported to the Agency Gas Information (AGI) by an inside source.
The transit rate is currently determined by the long-term contract (from 2009 to 2019) between Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom. This rate is dependent on the value of the fuel component and inflation in Europe. In the second quarter of 2015, the rate of transit of natural gas through Ukraine (under contract with Gazprom) amounted to $2.70 for 1000 cubic meters per 100 km.
At the end of December 2015, Naftogaz suggested that negotiations be arranged between themselves and Gazprom.
Last year, Ukraine adopted the Law on Natural Gas Market, which regulates the norms of the energy legislation of the European Union. According to this law, the transit tariff is set by the National Commission for the State Regulation in Energy and Public Utilities. Officially, an exact rate of the tariff increase has not been established as yet. However, according to Ukrainian officials, the rate will increase by approximately half.
