Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns Prime Minister of Russia Medvedev's visit to Crimea

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has expressed strong protest in connection with the latest visit by a Russian delegation to the temporarily Russian-occupied territory of Ukraine. The delegation, headed by the Prime Minister of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on August 4, 2017, was not coordinated with Ukraine,” the statement on the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reads.

The statement emphasizes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine "repeatedly stressed the inadmissibility of unauthorized visits of Russian officials to the sovereign territory of our State within its internationally recognized borders, which includes the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol."

The Ukrainian side emphasizes that "it considers this visit and other so-called ‘trips’ by Russian officials to temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol as a grave violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as cynical and demonstrative disregard by Russia of generally recognized norms of international law, including the UN Charter and UN General Assembly resolutions, as well as obligations under bilateral and multilateral treaties whose signatories include Ukraine and Russia. "

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine declares that all responsibility for these and other violations lies with the Russian Federation as an occupying state in accordance with the norms of international law, and its officials, as well as illegal so-called ‘Crimean authorities’ and their representatives who make illegal decisions and commit illegal actions, "the statement says.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a condemnation note was sent to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
