Lavrov: US actions threaten Russia’s national security

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the United States is taking “aggressive steps” that threaten the national security of Russia.

“We have witnessed fundamental changes in circumstances concerning aggressive Russophobia, which is the basis of US policy regarding Russia now,” Lavrov said in an interview with Channel One.

“It’s not just rhetorical Russophobia but aggressive steps which indeed cause damage to national interests and pose a threat to our security,” Lavrov added.

The Russian minister spoke about the increased presence of the US military along Russian borders, deployment of anti-ballistic missile defense in eastern Europe and sanctions imposed against Moscow because of its actions in Ukraine.
