Kyiv is dissatisfied with the composition of the OSCE mission
Ukraine insists on improving the monitoring procedure by the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, in particular, regarding the representation of the parties, as was stated by the representative of Ukraine to the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, Iryna Herashchenko, as reported by Ukrinform.
"Ukraine insists on the need to improve the monitoring procedure itself. The current representation of the mission is not normal. In one year the number of mission representatives from Serbia grew nine times," Herashchenko said during the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Inter-Parliamentary Council in Kyiv.
According to her, with all due respect to Serbia, Ukraine realizes "certain nuances" with this situation.
"The representation of Belarus increased nine times, there was previously only one representative from Belarus, now there are nine, and the number of representatives from the Russian Federation doubled, it was 20, now there are 40," Herashchenko said.
The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission began its work in Ukraine in March 2014. It is a civil mission and its task is to monitor the situation in the country, and, in particular, to promote dialogue between the parties to the conflict in the Donbas.
Previously it was reported that the number of OSCE observers in the Donbas increased to 800 people. The annual budget of the mission is 100 million euros.
