The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Hennadiy Zubko stated on 112 Ukraine TV Channel that Kiev and Tehran are discussing the possibility of supplying of oil from Iran to Europe via transit through Ukraine, as well as refining oil in Ukrainian oil processing plants. According to Zubko, Ukraine is interested in diversification of import supplies of oil products.
“On the other hand, Iran is interested in diversification of export of its oil and oil products. That is why the question is about possibility of refining of Iranian oil on the territory of Ukraine and storage of crude oil in Ukraine, and then diversification of supplies to the European Union. It is an interesting course and we will work on these possibilities,” Zubko explained.
He said that the supply of Iranian oil to the European Union is a strategic issue that both parties are interested in. “We [the Ukrainian Government delegation in Iran] held a series of meetings with the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food and the Minister of Oil. Tomorrow, we are going to meet the first Vice President and the main issue is about resumption of cooperation,” the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine added.
