Hong Kong considering the possibility of poultry import from Ukraine

A delegation from the Food Safety Center of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China) is investigating the possibility of importing poultry from Ukraine, as stated in a message from the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

It was reported that the Hong Kong delegation is in Ukraine on an assessment mission, during which a meeting with the leadership of the State Consumer Protection Service was held.

Ukraine presented the main approaches in state control over health, animal welfare, and state control of the safety, inspections, and certification of food products for export as well.

“During the visit, the delegation from Hong Kong will become familiarized with […] the procedure for state control at slaughterhouses, farms, and packing centers, as well as the operations of the laboratory network. In particular, the representatives of Hong Kong plan to visit the Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv regions,” the message says.

Earlier it was reported, that Iraq intended to invest $15 million USD in the production of chicken meat in Ukraine.
