Groysman in Brussels: Oligarchs do not control the Verkhovna Rada

Ukrainian Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman stated that today, oligarchs do not control the Ukrainian parliament.

He said this in Brussels during the part of the conference devoted to the economic development of Ukraine.

“Against the backdrop of there being a number of destructive political figures, the Ukrainian parliament is capable of making the necessary decisions. That’s why I think that the issue of a monopoly is a very important issue, and it must be worked on constantly, in order to demonopolize any influence of large capital,” Groysman stressed.

The PM also stated that the oligarchs have lost their influence on the government system and the national economy of Ukraine.

“If somebody says that the Oligarchs are coming back, I have a question: where to? If someone answers and tells me where, I’m willing to discuss it. I don’t think that anyone is going back anywhere. I think that the fundamental decisions made between 2014 and 2016 have significantly weakened the Oligarchs’ influence on the national economy and ruling system” Groysman stated.

In December EU auditors had asserted that oligarchs were exercising a dominating influence on Ukraine’s economy, politics and media.
