Forces to withdraw 1 km from both sides of demarcation line in eastern Ukraine
The Ukrainian representative to the security subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas, Yevhen Marchuk, stated on 112 Ukraine TV that the group’s decision on the withdrawal of forces of 1 km from the demarcation line on each side will be ready soon.
“The agreement is almost ready. It is the group’s decision concerning the withdrawal of forces from the front line per kilometer by both parties, i.e. a two-kilometer distance. We have agreed to repeat the discussion on Tuesday in order to find a compromise. Probably, it will be via video conference,” Marchuk said.
Yevhen Marchuk also noted that the parties have agreed to submit their opinions regarding this version of the agreement to the OSCE on Tuesday.
According to him, the working group on security issues will work until the parties have reached a final version of this important decision. The withdrawal of both parties in the Donbas was agreed upon in June. However, the formal agreement hasn’t been signed yet. In the previous talks that took place on the 14th of July, the parties failed to reach a compromise.
