Crimean Political Scientist: Construction of the Kerch Bridge will not change anything

According to associated professor at Tavrida National University and Crimean political scientist Yevhen Goryunov, the construction of the Kerch Bridge will not change the economic situation of the annexed Crimean peninsula, as stated by him during the telethon “Crimea. Three years of resistance.”

According to him, if the Kerch Bridge is finished, it will not bring any benefits to the peninsula due to the economic situation in neighboring Russia.

“If it [the Kerch Bridge] will be completed, I don’t think that the Crimea will change radically in a better way. The economic situation in Russia, and even Russian economists speak about it, is getting worse and worse by the day. The Russian strategy for the next ten years is stagnation. Correspondingly, it is not worth it to wait for any economic growth for Russia and for the Crimea, as a subsidized region,” the analyst stated.

On February 26, Ukraine celebrated "Day of Resistance to the Russian Occupation of the Crimea." On this day in 2014 a rally was held in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in front of the Crimean Verkhovna Rada. Then the protesters opposed pro-Russian activists, including those from the Russian Unity party.
