Chinese Ambassador in Kyiv: China is ready to establish a visa-free regime for Ukrainians
China is ready to establish a visa-free regime with Ukraine, as stated by Chinese Ambassador Du Wei.
"The Chinese government is constantly working to provide comfortable conditions for Ukrainian guests who travel to China. I want to clearly express our position: China is ready at any time, on the principle of equality and mutual benefit, to take new measures to facilitate the travel of people between our countries, including the implementation of a visa-free policy," Du Wei said at a press conference marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and China.
He also welcomed the EU's decision to liberalize the visa policy with Ukraine.
Du Wei noted that in 2016 about 20,000 Chinese citizens visited Ukraine.
"According to my data, about 20,000 people visited Ukraine last year, which is 0.1% of the total number of tourists," Du Wei added.
Since January 30, 2016, citizens of 51 countries, including Ukraine, can spend 144 hours in Shanghai, as well as the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang without a visa.
