Canadian ambassador to Ukraine: Annexation of Crimea was the first step towards disrupting the world balance
Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Washchuk said that the annexation of the Crimea threatens the territorial world order. Washchuk made the assertion at the international forum "The Crimea under occupation: consequences for Ukraine and the world,” as reported by Krym.Realii.
"We've learned from history. Twice, the violation of international laws in the 20th century had led to world wars, in which both Canada and Ukraine fought. The illegal annexation of the Crimea is a step towards the destabilization of the global system of security," the Ambassador said.
He added that the world of international diplomacy sees aggressiveness in the encroachment on Ukraine and this causes them to experience some measure of uncertainty and fear.
On February 26, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Crimea; the rallies in support of Crimea are planned to be held in Ukraine. On this day in 2014, a rally in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine was held near the building of the Verkhovna Rada of the Crimea. At that time, the protesters were opposed by the pro-Russian activists, including those from the Russian Unity party.
