Canada allocated $6.1 million to support Ukraine's National Police
Canada plans to allocate a total of $6.1 million, which equates to 8.1 million Canadian dollars, to Ukraine in support of their National Police. This was said by Canadian Foreign Minister, Stéphane Dion.
According to Dion, the allocation of these funds is an attempt to support Ukraine “in the fight against corruption”, and to assist the country in ensuring the sustainability of reforms.
Over a three-year period, Canada will provide up to $5 million, which will be used for the training and education of the police. A further $1 million will be used to buy equipment and supplies.
According to the ministry, more than $500 million was allocated to Ukraine in support of the country’s efforts to restore stability, improve security and implement reforms.
