Ukraine's Naftogaz: Gazprom stopped sending gas bills for the Donbas

Naftogaz of Ukraine claims that Russian Gazprom has stopped sending bills for the gas which is supplied to the territories of Donbas that are not under the Ukrainian government’s control.

However, the Ukrainian company reports that, “the volume of gas supplies has increased, which also shows in Gazprom’s reports.” Gazprom has not commented on this statement yet.

In February 2015, Gazprom began to supply gas to separatists in the the Donbas through gas-measuring points that are not controlled by Ukraine, without Naftogaz's procurement request or advance payment.

The Russian company claims that gas off-take is carried out in accordance with the contract of 2009 and that Kyiv has to pay for the gas supply and that such deliveries will continue without the need of an advance payment.

Ukraine has repeatedly stated that such supplies, contrary to Kyiv’s requests, grossly violate the current contract. Naftogaz of Ukraine never agreed on these gas supply volumes and has no intention of paying the bills for it.
