Media: Washington to dismiss Yovanovitch from post of US ambassador to Ukraine

On May 20, Marie Yovanovitch will be ceasing her role of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine, ZN.UA reported citing its sources.

“Marie Yovanovitch left for Washington in a hurry to attend meetings. This Saturday, May 11th, the ambassador is due to fly to Ukraine. And on May 20, as all the diplomats at the embassy were informed today, Yovanovitch will be returning to Washington,” the news agency writes.

According to the news agency, the charge d'affaires, whose candidacy has not yet been determined, will take over all relevant duties until the appointment of a new head of the diplomatic mission to Ukraine.

In 2016, Marie Yovanovitch replaced Jeffrey Payette as US Ambassador to Ukraine. In July, the US Senate approved her candidacy and, on August 23, Yovanovitch arrived in Kyiv.
