Media: Ukrainian MPs accused Poroshenko of usurpation of power

The initiative to impeach Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was announced during the hearings on legislative projects in the Verkhovna Rada, Golos.ua reports.

According to the edition’s information, the people’s deputies have criticized Poroshenko vigorously, accusing him and his team of an "actual usurpation of power."

"In fact, in the country, the President has usurped the whole vertical of power, almost all power. The Verkhovna Rada and other international organizations have been approached by bloggers and journalists. They state that we have regressed to the level of 2014, to the laws of January 16. If the Parliament and executive power are no longer able to work for the good of the people and in accordance with the Constitution, then there should be levers to rectify this situation," claimed People’s Deputy Serhiy Melnychuk.

The first outcries signaling this move could be heard on December 10 when Mikheil Saakashvili’s followers marched in Kyiv in support of the impeachment of President Poroshenko.
