Lithuanian Foreign Minister: Ukraine needs to establish special anti-corruption court

Ukraine should create a special anti-corruption court in the near future, as stated during a meeting with the leadership of NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) and SAP (Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine) in Lithuania by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Linas Linkevičius, the website of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry reports.

Linkevičius emphasized that the implementation of reforms and fighting corruption are both important for building a successful European state.

"We welcome the efforts of the special anti-corruption bodies of Ukraine in the fight against corruption; we hope that they will continue to operate independently and effectively. It is equally important that the cases investigated by them should not only reach the court, but also must lead to concrete results and convictions," the Minister said.

Linkevičius noted that it is also important for Ukraine to create a special anti-corruption court in the near future.

Representatives of Ukraine who were present at the meeting thanked Lithuania for the expert assistance rendered in reforming Ukraine's law enforcement bodies. Linkevičius assured that Lithuania would continue to provide expert assistance to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.
