Kyiv approves the plan for the reintegration of Crimea
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an interdepartmental plan of activities to support ties with Ukrainians living in annexed Crimea,as stated by the Minister for Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, Vadym Chernysh, Ukrinform reports.
“The Government has recently approved the plan that allows authorities to concentrate every effort on supporting ties with our Ukrainian citizens living under occupation. I stress once again, this is a task not only for the Ministry but also the government that approved it. That is, it is a collaboration of all Ministries and departments,” the Minister said.
The plan of action must first ensure the rights and freedoms of individuals in the Crimean Autonomous Republic. It must also ensure support and assistance for, and connections with them. There must be adequate access to health care, access to Ukrainian education, protection of individuals subjected to harassment and protection of cultural heritage. The plan also empowers culture and media and the development of border checkpoints and transport infrastructure.
The First Deputy Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, Yusuf Kurkchi stressed that almost a year was spent on approving the plan. “This relates to the fact that there are almost 60 persons working on this plan. And they all had to approve it and to give their recommendations. The plan includes 15 tasks, 50 activities, and the adoption and development of 10 normative legal acts,” he added.
On March 28, 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted decision Number 218-R “On adoption of plan of actions aimed at the realization of certain principles of the state domestic policy regarding the temporarily occupied territory of the Crimea and city of Sevastopol.”
