Israel strikes Syrian military bases in response to the attack on the Golan Heights
The Israeli military attacked several military targets in Syria in response to the bombing of the Golan Heights, which occurred last night, as reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
"Last night, two rockets were launched from Syria to Israel, 1 landing within Israeli territory. In response, we struck a number of Syrian Armed Forces military targets, " the IDF stated in a Twitter post.
Israel also attacked two artillery batteries, a number of observation and reconnaissance posts in the Golan Heights and a SA-2 air defense battery, reported Novaya Gazeta news outlet.
The IDF also said they would "act decisively" in response to any Syrian attacks.
Earlier, the Syrian SANA agency, citing the source, reported that three Syrian soldiers had been killed and seven more injured as a result of Israel’s air attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he himself had ordered retaliatory strikes on Syrian targets.
In March, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a declaration recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights. After that Syria demanded to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
