Israel claims that Hezbollah with the help of Iran is creating missile factories in Lebanon
The Israeli military claims that the Hezbollah is attempting to build infrastructure in Beirut to improve surface-to-surface missiles and develop them into guided missiles. The Israel Defense Force press service published photos on Thursday, taken from the air over several districts in the Lebanese capital and provided commentary to the photos.
“For over a year the Hezbollah is trying to build infrastructure to convert surface-to-surface missiles into precision-guided missiles in the area of Ouzai in Beirut,” claims the Israeli army. “Hezbollah leadership purposefully moved the main project of creating precise guided missiles, which has been going on for some time, to the heart of Beirut, thus risking the local population.” Based on the army intelligence, there at least 3 such locations in the Lebanese capital.
“The project is headed by Iranian leadership using Iranian technology and funding. Israel is monitoring these locations, has extensive knowledge of these projects and is opposing it in various ways,” informed the press service. “One of the shipments of equipment intended to be shipped from Syria to Lebanon was attacked on September 17th by Israel,” whereby Syrian air defenses shot down the Russian Il-20 surveillance aircraft, claims the Israeli Defense Forces press service.
According to the Israeli military, “there are other sites in Beirut and other places where Hezbollah operatives are attempting to build similar infrastructure to house and develop missiles. “Intensive efforts have been made to ensure that currently in Lebanon there are no operational factories that can convert surface-to-surface missiles into precision-guided missiles in mass quantities,” says the statement.
