IMF mission to arrive in Ukraine on September 12
A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will arrive in Ukraine on September 12 to analyze the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Fund, lb.ua news website reports citing a source in the Ukrainian government.
"The IMF mission will work in Ukraine September 12-13," the source said.
He also noted that while in Kyiv, the mission members would analyze the implementation of commitments undertaken by Ukraine to continue funding under the EFF (Extended Fund Facilitty) program.
In March 2015, the IMF opened a four-year EFF program for Ukraine in the amount of $17 billion. It assumed a quarterly review of the program and the allocation of four tranches to Kyiv in 2015, as well as four more in 2016. In reality, Ukraine received only four tranches, and the timing of their allocation was delayed. Ukraine received the first tranche of $5 billion in March 2015, the second of $1.7 billion in August 2015, the third of $1 billion in September 2016, and the fourth of $1 billion in April 2017.
In addition to the payments to the IMF, Ukraine pays interest on restructured Eurobonds. On March 1, Ukraine payed the Eurobonds holders $505 million.
