Crimea and Syria plan to create a joint shipping company

The Crimean authorities are working to create a shipping company with the participation of Syria, stated the head of the Russian government of the peninsula, Sergey Aksyonov, on December 8, on the sidelines of the United Russia Party congress.

“The process is already underway,” the Russian news agency TASS quoted Aksyonov.

Earlier, Aksyonov and the Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil signed a memorandum on trade and economic cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned the visit of the Russian authorities of the Crimea to the Syrian Arab Republic. It was stated that such actions cause "irreparable harm to the diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Syria."

On October 15, representatives of the Russian government of the Crimea arrived in Syria. They claimed that they planned to sign an agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation between the Crimea and the province of Latakia. Aksyonov said that the Crimean authorities intend to supply to Syria the Crimean products, in particular, electronics and grain.

In addition, the Russian authorities of the Crimea spoke about the possibility of opening air links between Syria and the Crimea.
