Bulgaria announces support for Ukraine’s European integration
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Yuri Sterk, during the Ukrainian-Bulgarian political consultations held in Kyiv on March 28, confirmed Bulgaria’s unwavering support for the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, reported Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
“During the consultations, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Vasyl Bodnar, discussed with his Bulgarian counterpart the full range of issues on the Ukrainian-Bulgarian relations agenda. The parties outlined ways for further development of political dialogue, cooperation within international organizations, as well as cooperation in economic, legal, cultural and humanitarian areas ", reads a statement published on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine website.
The parties mentioned the positive development of transport infrastructure between Ukraine and Bulgaria, in particular, the launch of Ryanair direct flights between Kyiv and Sofia.
Special attention was paid to practical issues of cooperation in the field of education and the protection of the national minorities’ rights in Ukraine and Bulgaria.
"The Bulgarian side confirmed unwavering support for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, the continuation of the EU sanctions policy against the Russian Federation, the efforts of our state and the international community to stabilize the situation in Eastern Ukraine and the de-occupation of the Crimea, as well as the release of Ukrainian political hostages, and Ukrainian sailors who are the prisoners of war," reads the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
On May 26, 2018, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Bulgarian Prime Minister held talks that resulted in an agreement to build a road from Odesa to Varna.
