Belarus warns of mirror response if the US military base is created in Poland
The Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of Belarus for Foreign Affairs and National Security Sergei Rakhmanov said that Belarus and Russia would take mirror measures if Poland places on its territory a US armored division base, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“I believe the response will be adequate. Everything will be counted, weighed and a mirrored decision will be taken,” said Rakhmanov.
According to him, the state of the relations with the West that Belarus has achieved is “much better than before.”
“But this relationship is not sustainable, because the actions of our partners can worsen the situation,” Rakhmanov noted.
Earlier, Poland offered the US to deploy an American armored division military base, that would be continuously active. The President of Poland Andrzej Duda offered to name the base “Fort Trump.”
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, commenting on this idea said that Poland should not create “extra bases”. He noted that Belarus and Russia would be forced to respond.
