President of Belarus warns of ‘joint response’ with Russia if the US military base established in Poland

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko said that the possible deployment of a U.S base in Poland would force Belarus and Russia to "take adequate measures", in particular, to place additional military infrastructure on the territory of Belarus.

“I told the Polish Foreign Minister when he spoke with us in Minsk that we are not going to fight with them. Therefore, there is no need to create extra military bases. Otherwise, Russians and we will have to respond. This means that we will have to deploy something to counteract you, "said Lukashenko as quoted by BeITA news agency.

He also added that Belarus wants peace, and is not planning to fight with anybody.

"We are peaceful people, we don’t want war. We are not rich, but we do not ask anyone for anything. We will earn our own happiness. If we act, we will do everything ourselves. I have already said that tens and hundreds of years of negotiations are better than one day of war ", stressed the President of Belarus.

Polish President Andrzej Duda during a visit to Washington at the end of September, proposed to deploy a permanent U.S. military base in Poland. In his opinion, this is the only guarantee of his country's security against Russian aggression.
