Austria establishes no-flight zone over Vienna ahead of Putin's visit
On June 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit the capital of Austria. As a security measure, Austrian authorities will close Vienna’s for air traffic.
Austria’s Ministry of Defense will close the air space over Vienna and will enlist 10 military aircraft and helicopters for patrolling. 800 Austrian military personnel will ensure that all goes smoothly during Putin’s visit, the Ministry added.
Putin intends to discuss the gas issue with Austrians.
During his visit to Moscow on February 28, the Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian Kurtz, said that "Austria is a major buyer of Russian natural gas and the country ensures its transit to other European countries."
According to Putin, in June, it will be 50 years since the beginning of gas supplies from the Soviet Union to the Austrian market. "Throughout this period, our country has made a significant contribution to ensure the energy security of the entire European continent," Putin said.
