Another LPR militant defects to Ukraine

The press center of the Ukrainian Joint Forces Operation reported that another militant has defected to Ukraine. In Severodonetsk, Ukrainian military noticed a man headed in the direction of the Ukrainain positions. They let him approach and reach the trench, and then he was detained.

The unnamed detainee was carrying a Kalashnikov rifle, an LPR military identity card issued in Alchevsk and some Russian rubles. He is a Ukrainian citizen born in 1976, a native of the city of Mykolaiv, as evidenced by his Ukrainian citizen’s passport issued in 1992 in Stakhaniv City, Luhansk.

The defector is currently under investigation.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that Svetlana Dryuk aka “Veterok”, a former tank battalion commander for the “People’s Militia” of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), has been evacuated to government-controlled territory.

Svetlana Dryuk was the archetype of the female protagonist in the film Opolchenochka (“Militiawoman”) which is being filmed in Luhansk. The first screening is scheduled for 9 May 2019. The producer called Dryuk’s actions “treachery”, but gave his assurances that they would not affect the film’s success.
