Ukrainian Defense Minister: current situation in the Donbas poses a threat to Western world

The situation in the East of Ukraine poses a threat to the entire Western world and sends a message to other countries, stated Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, the press-service of the Defense Ministry reports.

"The situation in the eastern part of Ukraine constitutes a threat to the entire Western world, so countering information challenges with actions rather than slogans is effective and efficient. We must work together to confront the information threats," stressed the Minister in a meeting with the President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), Eugene Czolij in Kyiv on Wednesday.

According to the Head of the Defense Ministry, the conflict in Ukraine is a signal to other countries on how the situation can evolve. Czolij in turn assured Ukraine of its continuing support and assistance.

"You can rely on our strong support. The world should realize that this is a global threat rather than a purely Ukrainian-Russian conflict. If Ukraine defends its borders, it will ensure stability in the region," he noted.

In an earlier report, the OSCE warned of the escalation of the armed conflict in the East of Ukraine due to the onset of cold weather.
