Ukraine to create worldwide Russian-language channel

Deputy Chairman of the Office of Ukrainian President Kirill Tymoshenko said that the administration of the Ukrainian President plans to launch an international Russian-language channel, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, such a channel is needed so that Ukraine could “fight for the minds of Ukrainians in the occupied territories of the Donbas and Crimea, as well as the minds of Russians living in the Russian Federation”.

"We have developed a plan for the launch of the Ukrainian Russian-language channel, and we will be able to reach the Russian-speaking population around the world through it," Tymoshenko said.

According to him, the team of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants it to be a government-owned channel.

"But we are making agreements with private channels to acquire the rights to use their prime content," said Tymoshenko.

Previously, the first assistant of the President of Ukraine Sergey Shafir said that Zelensky’s  is working to create "an influential information channel." According to him, two options are considered: the Internet and satellite TV channel.
