Turkish reconnaissance drone shot down over Russian airbase in Syria

Despite the cooperation agreements between Russia and Turkey, a Turkish surveillance drone was destroyed over the Russian military airbase near the city of Qamishli. The drone collected information about the military airfield, where the combat aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force are located.

According to the Syrian news agency SANA, a Turkish reconnaissance drone was destroyed by Syrian Armed Forces stationed in the Hamo village area. Initially, it was assumed that the drone was trying to attack the Russian military airbase. However, as it turned out later, it was a Turkish surveillance drone.

If the information about the espionage of the Turkish military on the Russian Aerospace Forces is confirmed, it can create a lot of obstacles to cooperation between Russia and Turkey in the region.

According to the published photo, the drone did not receive critical damage, which indicates the fact that the drone was destroyed not by the air defense system, but from automatic small arms.

The Turkish side has not yet commented on the destruction of its drone.
