Russia calls the new U.S. security strategy 'a threat to the world'
The new U.S. national security strategy is aggressive and threatens the entire world, as stated on the Facebook page by Konstantin Kosachev, head of the Committee on International Affairs.
Describing the general tone of the document, Kosachev called it a testament to the fact that “the United States has not accepted changes in the world in recent years, and they intend reverse the trend, returning the recent version of Pax Americana.” The head of the Senate Committee pointed out that the strengthening of NATO’s eastern flank and the threat of a break in the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty along with this doctrine show Washington’s intention to promote its interests by force. “The U.S. is clearly counting on power in all areas, from economy to defense, and America first will mean ‘America is the strongest’ – it means that it’s right,” he said.
The USA’s new doctrine of national security is jeopardized by the fact that it tries to fix the broken balance of power in the world, Kosachev concluded. During the Cold War, the parties feared each other because of mutual attempts to sway the balance of power in their favor. Now the world has turned around - the Americans see the revisionism of Russia in their attempts to restore the balance in their favor. This is how the Americans, with their new national security strategy, are so dangerous to the whole world.
The new U.S. national security strategy was published by the Trump administration on December 18. It classifies Russia and China as “adversary countries” that seek to undermine the security of the United States.
